There have been few sporting journeys to match that of the French national rugby league team. In this book, I have tried to document their progress from complete novices in 1934 to World Champions in 1951, based on contemporary sources, French and Anglophone. It is not over-selective - in fact, the criticism could be levelled that there is too much material with elements of duplication. The criticism is valid, but the format is deliberate, as my intention is to offer the reader a feast, not a snack.
